Jane stresses over finishing her novel

This week's Jane the Virgin dealt with a lot of stresses: Jane's stress over finishing her novel, Michael's stress over taking the LSAT and applying to law school, Rafael's stress about his father's addendum that could exclude him from the will, Petra's stress that Rafael's exclusion would seriously and negatively affect their children, and so on. Still, everyone looked great while struggling — some notables being Darci's va-va-voom dress, worn while reuniting with Rogelio, and Rogelio as Adam (of Adam and Eve) in the series finale of his telenovela, Tiago a Través del Tiempo. Read on for all of that, and more.

Rogelio and Darci kept away from one another for a few weeks after Rogelio admitted that he had feelings for her. When they finally faced each other again, Rogelio said the feelings were gone, but when Darci flirtatiously approached him — sporting a sensual gaze and a fitted, colorful dress with a deep v-neck — he cracked and confessed to having an #emoner for the woman with whom he agreed to have a child. That agreement was no more, as Darci's rule was that their relationship had to be platonic, but Rogelio proposed they try things the old-fashioned way. He asked her out on a date, to which she agreed, and they kissed. All seemed well, and Darci even told Jane that she was excited about the date while at a Tiago taping, but things took a bad turn when Darci witnessed Rogelio's attachment to Xo (you know, his ex). On the actual date, Darci was cold and critical, so Rogelio felt it best that they not date or go back to the original plan of having a child together as co-parents. Rogelio did eventually have a conversation with Darci about how and why she was pushing him away, but more on that later.

In this episode, Jane struggled with anxiety about finishing her novel. She felt like she couldn't talk to Michael about the fact that his efforts to take the LSAT and apply to law school were stressing her out, because her concerns then stressed him out. To relax, she turned to yoga — see the comfy leggings and tank (above) — but that ended up backfiring, too, when Catalina showed up and asked if Jane had been in support of Rafael dumping her, something Catalina found out through Petra, who saw the conversation on hidden cameras she installed in Rafael's room. After confirming Jane's feelings to be true, Catalina agreed to help Petra — and earn $10,000 (and a watch) at that — by taking Rafael away so Petra could get her hands on the addendum. Petra could have used it as blackmail, and it would have made sense considering how upset she was about Rafael and Scott teaming up against her, but she didn't. Instead, she destroyed it because she wanted to provide financial security for the twins she shares with Rafael. That's the best she feels she can do for them, now that their bond has been broken as a result of her Anezka-induced paralysis and absence.

NEXT: Yoga isn't enough to cure Jane's anxiety, and a flash-forward sequence is a testament to that

Needless to say, the yoga wasn't very effective, and Jane wasn't able to relax straight away. In fact, she continued to rework and rework and rework her novel and even stayed up panicking one night while Michael slept, with help from some essential oils gifted by Jane's yoga teacher, who felt she needed help in the relaxation department — and was right. Jane daydreamed five years into the future, imagining that Michael would still not be able to handle her stress. She then daydreamed about Mateo, who concerned her throughout the episode because he wasn't speaking as much as other children his age. Jane imagined him 10 years down the line, only just making it to kindergarten. Her last daydream saw her still working on her novel 20 years later, appearing in front of her aged adviser Marlene in a professional white blazer with glasses, wanting to make more edits. The anxiety continued on the next day when Michael had a severe allergic reaction to the essential oil he applied to his face and was unable to make it to a law school interview due to a bad traffic jam. But Jane and Michael eventually found their peace when they pulled over to camp for the night, with Mateo along for the ride, and realized they'd be fine even if they ended up in a worst-case-scenario situation.

Throughout the episode, Rogelio struggled with the best way to end Tiago. He appeared as a cobbler and as an astronaut, but he was dissatisfied with both options. Ultimately, he had the aforementioned conversation with Darci, asking why she was pulling away, and that conversation sparked the idea for the series finale. Basically, she admitted to feeling uncomfortable about Rogelio's close relationship with Xo, thinking that he'd go back to his ex (I'm not ruling that out as an option. In fact, I'm totally shipping #XoRo). Rogelio said that everyone has baggage, and Darci likely had a bad experience with someone going back to their ex that caused her to be more sensitive. He added that it'd be nice if people had no baggage — like Adam and Eve — but that just isn't the case. Not in real life, at least, but it very much became a reality on Tiago, as Rogelio ended the series with the first man and woman — dressed in primal clothing and covered in bones and leaves — falling in love and embracing. So Tiago is over, but we have Rogelio's big-screen, full-frontal scene to look forward to, as well as a relationship with Darci, since they decided to give things a try in the end.

Speaking of people falling in love, Anezka and Scott tied the knot despite Petra telling her twin that she needed to go home. Scott hid Anezka and went in pursuit of blackmail to hold over Petra, so that he could keep his beloved with him. He found something all right, and he — in a dark suit and blue tie — revealed it to his bride, who wore a long, lace white wedding dress with half sleeves. What he found was the addendum, which Petra had just told Rafael that she didn't want to talk about anymore. She even offered to go see a psychologist about being held captive in exchange. Sounds like things are about to get real crazy, if you ask me…

Other things of note:

  • Jane was nervous about showing Alba her novel, since it's loosely based on her family feud and takes some creative liberties, but Alba loved it. "You are a writer, Jane. An incredible writer," Alba said, and thanked her for telling her story.
  • What's more, Rafael and Catalina are officially broken up. Catalina came clean to Rafael about Petra's plan, which she aided, but despite that — and some very honest admissions to one another during their getaway — Rafael still wanted to end their fling, like he had intended at the beginning of the episode.
  • That means that Catalina is finally out of the picture, a relief to many characters to be sure.
